“I heard from Ine that there was a workshop about growing oyster mushrooms. I didn’t really know what to expect, but it immediately appealed to me because I care about recycling. During the workshop, I discovered how you can still do something useful with waste like coffee grounds. That idea — that nothing is truly waste — really struck me.
We were given an explanation of how the process works, and soon I started helping with the care of the buckets. During the Christmas holidays, I even came twice a day to water them. After that, I just kind of stayed involved. It happened naturally.
We made soup with the mushrooms, gave workshops, handed out buckets. Doing it all together, building something as a group — that’s what gives me real satisfaction. For me, it started with recycling, but it’s become so much more than that.”
