“I had already tried growing mushrooms at home once, but it didn’t go well. When I saw the flyer for the workshop through a friend, I signed up right away. I’m very interested in mushrooms, especially because I cook vegetarian. They’re nutritious, flavorful, and versatile, but the selection in supermarkets is very limited — usually just white button mushrooms and occasionally some oyster mushrooms.
In the workshop, I learned techniques I hadn’t known before, like how important it is to firmly press down the substrate. Thanks to that hands-on guidance, I had my first real success growing mushrooms.
Since then, I’ve become more involved: cooking at events, exchanging tips, trying out new methods. What I appreciate is how accessible it is — and at the same time, how much you can learn. It’s incredibly rewarding to be working with food in this way, in a way you don’t find anywhere else.”
